Katie Davenport is starting her second year as a first grade teacher at Middletown Prairie. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 2012 and moved closer to home after graduation. She spent eight years teaching at the K-2 grade levels before moving back to the Champaign area. She loves teaching reading and has recently obtained her Master’s in Education with a focus in Reading from Illinois State University.
Ms. Davenport’s family was excited to relocate back to the area after her husband’s job brought them back to Champaign-Urbana. She has been married to her husband Kyle for 9 years. They both graduated from the University of Illinois and her younger brother and brother-in-law are currently students at the U of I. In addition to this, Ms. Davenport’s sister works at Mahomet-Seymour High School and she loves having her siblings close by. Ms. Davenport adores her shelter adopted dog, Maddox, and her cat, Milo. Ms. Davenport also has two nephews she absolutely loves, Myles and Klay!
In her spare time, she loves to read, watch sporting events, travel, and go hiking. In fact, this summer she enjoyed hiking the Beehive trail in Acadia National Forest. Ms. Davenport is very excited to join the Mahomet-Seymour community and is looking forward to making this a great year!
