Emily Fernandez is a kindergarten teacher at MPE. This will be her 10th year teaching. She has taught 3 year olds, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade. Mrs. Fernandez recently moved to Mahomet with her husband Mike, and son Max. Mike is a software engineer and a reservist with the US Navy. He recently came home from a 10 month deployment, and the whole family is thrilled to have him home again! Max is 8 years old and will be going into 4th grade at Lincoln Trail. He is so excited to make friends at his new school! Mrs. Fernandez also shares her home with a sweet, fat pug and beagle mix named Baxter. When she is not at school, you can find her reading, cooking, going out to eat, or knitting.
Kindergarten is Mrs. Fernandez’s favorite grade level. She especially loves teaching phonics and phonemic awareness to her littles. There is nothing better than giving students the keys to reading! She loves being a part of the MPE family and is very excited to meet her students and families!
