**New Kindergarten Teacher at MPE**
Hello! Emily Fernandez is a kindergarten teacher at MPE. This will be her 9th year teaching. She has taught 3 year olds, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade. Mrs. Fernandez lives in Tuscola with her mother, Sarah, and son, Max, while her husband, Mike, is deployed for the year with the Navy. They plan to move to Mahomet when he returns. Her son Max is 7 and will be going into 3rd grade. Mrs. Fernandez also shares her home with a sweet, fat pug and beagle mix named Baxter. When she is not at school, you can find her reading, cooking, going out to eat, or knitting.
Kindergarten is Mrs. Fernandez’s favorite grade level. She especially loves teaching phonics and phonemic awareness to her littles. There is nothing better than giving students the keys to reading! She is so excited to be a part of the MPE family this year and to meet her students and families!
