Arthur Leenerman, of Mahomet, one of the last survivors of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis in WWII, passed away this past Monday at the age of 95. He served in the US Navy. One of only 317 sailors to survive the sinking, he spent four and a half days adrift before being rescued. Thank you Arthur, and to all of our veterans, for your service and sacrifice.

As a follow up to the incident at Lincoln Trail Elementary on November 4, 2019, involving a needle found in a piece of candy, the investigation is now completed. The investigation reveals that there is no continuing threat or danger to other students, as we have identified the source of the needle, and it was not obtained while trick or treating. The school district is following up with those involved and/or impacted by this event.
