Mom's Pantry, located in the CAIR Center at Mahomet-Seymour High School is taking donations of NON PERISHABLE FOOD ITEMS AND PERSONAL HYGIENE ITEMS, on Friday, March 20, 2020, from 9-noon and 5-7 pm at the CAIR Center. Mahomet-Seymour families, if you are in need any of these items, distribution of items is on Sunday, March 22, 2020 from 5-7 p.m.

To the Mahomet-Seymour Community: your outreach and generosity is appreciated and is amazing--thank you so much! Our food distribution plan is being finalized, as is our plan for our students and staff next week during the mandated school closure. Communication will be going out, later today, to parents, staff and our community with lots of information about resources, how you can help or donate, and about activities for our students while we are closed. There is a lot of preparation that goes into these plans, and we want to ensure that our communication is accurate and as up to date as possible during an ever changing situation. Please also remember that we must be cognizant of the number of people that we gather together as well as social distancing guidelines. All of this is being taken into consideration. Again, thank you for all of your support!

A MESSAGE TO OUR STUDENTS As your superintendent, I want to take the time to send a message to all of you. I am truly sorry your lives have been impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak in such a significant manner. I realize that many of you lost opportunities this spring to participate, compete and perform in extracurricular activities, and for some of you, the result of these cancellations is incredibly impactful on your lives. We have had to cancel field trips and other activities as well—and of course, school itself is closed. I realize that many of you are concerned about your education continuing, or whether you’ll be prepared for next year or for college. I am so sorry this is occurring—it is a historic and epic time in the history of our country and the entire world. The Mahomet-Seymour Schools are an integral part of our community—we are all Bulldogs and can and will work through this together. Middletown Prairie Elementary, Lincoln Trail Elementary, Mahomet-Seymour Jr. High School and Mahomet-Seymour High School staff are ready and willing to help and support you through this time. We will miss seeing you on a daily basis during the time that schools must be closed! You are THE MOST important parts of our lives as educators. In the next few days, we will release plans about what we will do moving ahead while schools are closed. Patience and flexibility are incredibly important for all of us. In the meantime, I urge you to stay healthy---you know the drill: wash your hands frequently, stay home when you are sick, and actively practice social distancing. I also encourage you to think about the things that we all CAN still do—the past few days have been filled with “can’ts”, “don’ts”, “cancelled”, “called off”, etc—but there are still important and positive things that we can do and focus on while we navigate this very challenging time in our lives. Please know that the adults of the community care for you and love you, we share in your frustrations and disappointments, and we’ll get through all this together, emerging as even stronger Bulldogs!

Things that haven't changed: Sunrise/sets, Moonrise/sets, birds singing, deer running, rivers flowing, spring starts in 5 days. Focus on the greater and bigger things that are consistent and that we can still enjoy and connect with--whatever that is for you and your family.

Watch for information this coming week about the plans for the Mahomet-Seymour Schools in light of schools being closed. This includes a food distribution plan. Thank you to our community for such amazing support!

Governor Pritzker has ordered all Illinois public/private schools be closed through March 30, 2020 due to COVID-19. The Mahomet-Seymour Schools will be closed through 3/30/20 reopening on 3/31/20. Parents and staff should check their email regularly for updates on this situation.

Kindergarten Information Night is coming! Parents of incoming Kindergarten students are invited to join us in the Middletown Prairie Elementary School Gym on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, from 6:00-6:30 p.m. for an informational meeting. The Mahomet Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Job Fair this Saturday, 2/29/20 at the Parks & Rec Bldg. on Lake of the Woods Road from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will be there with information about our open positions, including summer work for kids!

Traffic on I-74 eastbound at Mahomet is backed up due to an accident near the bridge over the Sangamon River. Expect delays.

Highlights from the M-S Music Dept this weekend: MSHS Color Guard wins State 6 members qualify for state a soloists Lexi Watkins=state champion Cayla Emmerd=3rd place HS Jazz Band=1st place honors in the HIGH SCHOOL division at Indiana State Trombone section=Outstanding High Performer of the day MSJH Jazz Band-1st place high honors in Middle School Division Isaac Hanson=Outstanding Middle School Performer of the Day.
