The Mahomet-Seymour School District supports and values all of our students and staff. We are a public school that welcomes and supports all. We are continually striving to create an inclusive environment as our school and community grow and become more diverse. There is absolutely no rationale, excuse or tolerance for bullying in any context, place, time, or situation. The incidents of bullying of an LGBTQ+ student last week at Mahomet-Seymour High School, combined with speculation, rumors and inaccurate information on social media have created an unfortunate and disruptive environment in our HS and in our community as well. Bullying hurts other human beings. We can disagree and not harm others. It is also important to let students and parents know that information continues to come forth and an investigation continues. I acknowledge that this doesn’t meet the timeline and expectations of some people. But in the spirit of being thorough, obtaining facts and evidence, and serving our students and families in the best way possible, we will determine the timeline as events unfold and information becomes available and ready to disseminate. It must be stated that we can only investigate and address complaints and allegations of bullying if we are aware of them. We encourage anyone to come forward with information about any situation, and we also encourage the use of our anonymous reporting form, found here: https://docs.google.com/a/ms.k12.il.us/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSekxoW0i8LcUq6K-zWJ4jwMhM3bsk1_c1i1NwlFGGZH5GhMnQ/viewform The board policy that covers Bullying is Board Policy 7:180 and is found here: https://www.boardpolicyonline.com/?b=mahomet-seymour_3 While the hunger by some individuals for information is obvious, as a public school we owe it, legally and otherwise, to all students and families to maintain their privacy, confidentiality, and dignity. The lack of detailed information released in any situation does not constitute a “cover up” or “sweeping things under the rug”. Parents and the general public will not be apprised by the school district of the details of any investigation involving our students or staff, or the specific disciplinary action that is taken, or the specific restorative measures that are instituted. In the spirit of supporting and valuing all of our students and staff, please be cognizant of the fact that our actions as adults on-line or in person set an example. Let's move ahead in kindness, seeking greater understanding and respect.

On Patriot Day, we solemnly remember the nearly 3,000 people who perished on September 11, 2001. With gratitude and respect, we honor the brave first responders, resolute members of our military, and ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage to save others on that fateful day.

Hello Bulldog Nation! Bulldog Blueprint has returned! Bulldog Blueprint is our community engagement initiative that was started last spring. The overall goal of this initiative is to develop a long term master plan for our facilities. YOUR VOICE AND INPUT IS NEEDED IN THIS PROCESS! The Mahomet-Seymour School District continues to grow and change. Our enrollment is over 3300 students--the highest it’s ever been, and our enrollment forecasts predict that this number will continue to grow. In addition, as I am sure you are aware, we have several buildings that are aging and are out of space. And, the 2020 census indicates that the population of the Village of Mahomet is also growing. All of these factors combine to mean that we need to address our shortage of space in our school buildings and plan for the future. We had two community engagement sessions in the spring. One in April and one in June. If you weren’t able to attend those--no problem! It’s never too late to attend, and again, your voice and input is needed. If you’ve already attended--we look forward to seeing you again! The next Community Engagement Session is Tuesday evening, September 21, 2021 at Middletown Prairie Elementary School. This is an in-person meeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Can’t make it? No problem! We are also offering a virtual meeting on September 23, 2021. The Bulldog Blueprint website has all of the information you need for all of our meetings. Here is the web address: www.bulldogblueprint.com Please RSVP to attend the meetings by visiting this website. You can also scan the QR code on the attached flyer. In closing, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of planning for the future of our schools--and how critical it is that we have the input of our taxpayers in this planning process. We hope to see you on September 21 or 23 and at our other meetings this fall!!

The Give Me Five food bag program is ready to start its ninth year . Give Me Five goes home with those students who sign up on Fridays and consists of a bag filled with 8 to 10 items of non-perishable food. Our first deliveries will be the Friday before Labor Day, which is September 3. Families that are interested should contact their building social workers. A consent to receive the bag is required. Allergies should be reported so that we can safely nourish the children. Families are eligible for one child per student in the district. Thanks to the generous support of local community members, we are pleased to provide this to our families at no cost to the recipients.
